Zweiter Sieg in Folge beim internationalen Wiener Silvesterlauf
Genau wie vor zwölf Monaten konnte ich mich in die Siegerliste des Wiener Silvesterlaufs einschreiben. Und genau wie im Vorjahr hatte ich in dem ungarischen Mittelstreckenläufer Balint Horvath den ärgsten Konkurrenten. Nach 16'26" erreichte ich das Ziel nach den 5350 Metern, nur noch 16" von der Streckenbestzeit des dreifachen Siegers Dieter Pratscher (AUT) entfernt.

Excellent performance of the Triathlon World Cup in Cozumel ( Mexico ), achieving 11th place among 75 starters. Swimming and cycling brought no preliminary decision and during the final 5 km run, on which 60 athletes went on the track, I was finally able to put my skills to the test. After 600 meters I was even in third position before I was joined by a group of 11 triathletes. I could go with the pace of my rivals and after 15'18 ", I reached 11th place, meaning the best placement in the elite races so far. In the ITU ranking I could improve by 42 places to number 101.
Perhaps my best race of the season - 12th place among 65 athletes at the ITU U23 World Championships in Chicago.... After an excellent 1500m swimming performance at Lake Michigan, I left the water just 8'' behind the Canadian Alexis Lepage from the Michigan lake. On the bike parcours I had no problems. Unfortunately just right before the final lap, a second group of 11 athletes closed the gap to our leading group. So, 41 athletes started into the final 10km run. I was able to get into a group which was competing for the places 6 to 14. At end of the race I had to slow down a bit, but ran my rhythm down to the finish line, ending the race at a very good 12th place. After the race, I was of course " mega happy".
